On the newest episode, I welcomed my very first guest on the podcast, Screenwriter Abdul Malik, co-host of the @offcourtpod
Based out of Edmonton, Canada, and a fan of the Canadian Football League, Abdul provided insightful analysis on the current labor situation in the CFL. We discussed his recent article on the topic in Jacobin Magazine, CFL and Canadian Nationalism, and the differences between American Football (NFL) and Canadian Football.
We also talked basketball, Raptors fandom, Bill Russell, and the origins of the NBPA; Racial capitalism and Offensive Native Mascots (Edmonton Football Team); and briefly discussed Super Bowl 55 among a few other topics.
